The Melbourne Cancerians

Collins Securities is a proud supporter of the Melbourne Cancerians, a fundraising committee that raises money for the Australian Cancer Research Foundation.

Since being founded in 1984, the ACRF has raised over $40 million for cancer research. Over the past five years, the average value of grants awarded is $1 million with such recipients as the Australian Genome Research Facility and the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute in Melbourne.

Many grants made by the Foundation having already resulted in significant advances in cancer research. The Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute is the 2004/5 recipient of grant monies from the ACRF with a $1 million grant for the purchase of digital and live imaging equipment and an electron transmission microscope for their cell biology program.

Collins Securities has been a supporter of the Melbourne Cancerians since the Committee's inception in 2002 and in that time the Melbourne Cancerians has raised over $200,000 for cancer research.

The focus of the Melbourne Cancerians is on raising funds in a way that celebrates life, for it believes that when cancer can be prevented, overcome and controlled, then life can be enriched, extended, enjoyed and celebrated.
